CAPE TOWN – Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer said on Tuesday R6,5 million worth of drugs were confiscated since the beginning of operation 'Drug Watch'.

The initiative was launched in November last year in partnership with LeadSA.

The project encourages communities to report drug peddling in their areas.

Lamoer said Tik remained the number one drug that was confiscated.

“We received a lot of calls and SMS’s with information from communities and we reacted on that. What is the most worrying is that Tik is the number one drug being confiscated. We’ve confiscated R4, 5 million worth of Tik in this period.”
